Telemetry Explained and Why You Need It

What is telemetry?

Telemetry is an automated communications process by which measurements and other data are collected and transmitted to receiving equipment for monitoring. For Tronair, data will be collected from Tronair installed

equipment and transmitted to the EBIS database.

What are the benefits of telemetry?

There are many benefits to using telemetry. A small sample includes: The ability to locate a piece of equipment, saving you valuable manpower. Optimizing your maintenance program based on usage vs. calendar based. This means that you are working on the right equipment, at the right time, for the right reasons. Predicting failures which allows technicians to be more productive and enables an improved supply chain by having the right parts available when needed. Provide alerting to understand if equipment is idling too long. You can implement a policy to limit idling, thus saving fuel. An alert if your gas or electric equipment is low on fuel or battery charge.

What is Tronair’s strategy for telemetry?

Tronair will add factory-installed telemetry devices on all equipment via a 2 phased approach beginning in 2019. The initial rollout will include powered equipment. The second phase will include non-powered equipment. We will collect more than 1,900 data points (depending on the equipment you select) which are in five of the most common categories. Along with telemetry, in 2019, clients will receive a free version of EBIS, Tronair’s Enterprise Asset Management solution, to track usage and receive alerts from their equipment.

Can I get this equipment on all my purchases?

Yes, Tronair will be delivering new powered equipment pre-installed with telemetry beginning in early 2019. Non-powered equipment will be available later in 2019.

How much does it cost? (Hardware, Software, Communication Charges, Installation)

The telemetry hardware is included at no additional charge as part of the equipment purchase. A free version of EBIS is available for the first 12 months after purchase. The free version of EBIS will be limited to a fixed number of pieces of equipment (based on your equipment purchase from Tronair) and a limited number of users. The enterprise version of EBIS allows for unlimited equipment and unlimited users.

Is there a fee to access my telematics data on your platform?

For 12 months after you purchase your equipment, Tronair will provide you with a limited version of EBIS that allows you to see your equipment and track the data inputs.

How often will data be transmitted?

Telemetry data transmission is user defined. It can be communicated once per day, periodically throughout the day, or in real-time as agreed upon between Tronair and the client. We will upload data into EBIS nightly for maintenance schedules, Live Location and GPS is in real-time and alerts will be updated every few minutes.

How is telemetry communicated?

We will utilize cellular service to communicate data from equipment, via the cloud, to EBIS.

What does EBIS do?

EBIS is an Enterprise Asset Management solution that tracks all of your maintenance activities by equipment. This information is used to improve your maintenance program. With Telemetry, maintenance is improved, tracking is added and alerts/warnings are provided to the end user.
